Open UpCost and tap Break glass on the main screen. Everything opens immediately, free, no exercise. It's never refused — it's only counted.
If you want it all off permanently: Settings → Turn everything off. And if all else fails, deleting UpCost makes iOS lift every block automatically. You cannot be locked out of your own phone.
Settings → Blocked apps → Change which apps are locked. Remove anything you shouldn't have picked. As a rule, leave Phone, Messages and Settings unlocked.
Almost always phone position. The proximity sensor sits at the top of the phone, beside the Dynamic Island — not the middle. Lay the phone face-up with its top edge under your chin, and lower your face to it.
The screen going black on the way down is correct — that's the sensor firing. Listen for the click and feel the buzz on each rep.
To check the sensor itself: on the paying screen, wave a hand over the top of the phone. The dot should turn green and the signal count should tick up.
Hold the phone flat against your chest, screen outward, and move deliberately. Squat detection is the newest of the three and the least precise — if it's consistently wrong for you, please email me, as that feedback directly shapes the fix.
Yes, any time. Settings → How you pay switches between push-ups, squats and steps. You can also switch mid-set using the control on the paying screen — useful when you're in a meeting, in a suit, or on a train.
Because the first check of an app was never the problem. The fifteenth is. The price resets every night at midnight, so each day starts cheap.
You can soften or sharpen the starting point in Settings → Starting price — Gentle, Standard or Brutal. The doubling itself is the same at every setting.
No — and not by choice. Apple gives the app a sealed token instead of the names of the apps you picked. It cannot read them, and nothing is ever sent off your phone. That's also why the stats show your effort and time rather than a per-app breakdown.
Yes. UpCost puts the wall back up on its own when your paid window ends, whether or not the app is running.
On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → UpCost → Cancel. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple; UpCost never sees your payment details.
Break glass and the emergency reset are free forever, subscription or not. You will never be charged to get out.
Open Settings → Plans and payment → Restore purchases. If that doesn't fix it, email me with the Apple receipt and I'll sort it.
